Words of Encouragement for 2021

Tulsa Home Hospice

After a tumultuous year in 2020, many are looking forward to 2021 as a year of renewed hope. Here at Seasons Hospice of Tulsa and Muskogee, we would like to share some words of encouragement with you and your family as we move into the new year. Whether you’re specifically looking for what to say to someone in hospice, or just looking for words of encouragement and strength in general, we have a few scriptures that may be helpful.

Look for Joy in 2021

Look for new ways to find and share joy in 2021. While we may find happiness in short moments throughout the new year, joy is an attitude that we can choose to have and develop through various experiences and circumstances.

Gratitude is a great contributor to joy as it gives us perspective on the blessings that we have in this life. Listen to James’s writings as he describes how we can turn difficult situations into opportunities to create joy.

“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.”

– James 1:2

The most significant part of joy is that it’s contagious. Whenever you show joy to your loved ones, it makes it easier for them to adopt joy. Finding words of encouragement for friends and sharing with them can brighten not only their spirits, but yours as well!

Look for Strength in 2021

While developing your physical strength is a great way to stay healthy, growing your emotional and mental strength is just as important. Look for opportunities to challenge yourself in the coming year.

Do you need to have a difficult conversation with a loved one? Do you have a goal that you haven’t reached yet?

Look to others to find strength in moments of hardship. Emotional and spiritual support from friends and family is a great way to fortify your strength. Talking with an accountability partner, clergy or counselor can help you to grow in challenging times.

“But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.”

– Isaiah 40:31

Look for Wisdom in 2021

Many times we see hardships and trials as obstacles to getting the things we want in life. However, if we view these obstacles as learning opportunities, we gain wisdom. Difficult life events cause us to rethink how we see the world. This shift in our worldview can help us to develop wisdom.

Wisdom will multiply your days and add years to your life.

– Proverbs 9:11

Wisdom doesn’t just come from our own life experiences, but the life experiences of others as well. Talking with an older loved one who has gone through challenges can teach us lessons about perseverance, trust and how to care for others.
